Audeince Theory

Hypodermic needle model.

1) the hypodermic needle is a model of communication developed in the 20's after the researchers observed the effects of the WW1 propaganda which showed the audience fully accepted the technique portraying the medias power to the public.

in a similar manner video games are also having a profound effect on those playing them on a regular basis which is what links this article to the hypodermic needle. professor bushman has shown in the research that when the results were shown the students who played the violent games may come to see the world as a more hostile and violent as it showed in their behaviour which is linked to how the characters of the video games would think n their surroundings.

2) the main reason for criticism for this front page is the head line used - a 15 year old, who is a video game addict and rarely leaves his bedroom suggests that the media is to blame, because the media influences the audience and this has a negative impact on the child's social life, causing him to behave in an aggressive manor. With this being said the headline doesn't leave room to explore whether if the media is the sole reason for his aggression, this pins the entire blame on the media.

Two step flow model

1) I believe that this is somewhat relevant and valid today. We live in a generation which is split. there is a large number of people who solely look to opinion leaders, which are influenced by mass media, however there is also a large number of people who are able to develop their own opinion as technology has developed and there is also the option for people to share their opinion anonymously with ease online for example, which may allow for there to be diversity in the range of opinions.

2) this YouTuber has over 2.2 million subscribers which is an extremely large audience for  a gaming critic, which clearly shows that he is an influential person and has an influential Chanel and would be a large impact on the decisions of which games his viewers would buy as he can change the opinion of these people as people will believe that his opinion would be correct as he has so many followers.

3) I believe that these accounts really are very influential in the decisions of the country and the opinions of people who are larger then just users of twitter. I believe this as I often on other social media sites such as snapchat or Instagram there are references to twitter or tweets and things which occur on there, so not only the followers of those accounts view that. it would be difficult for fans not to be influenced by the tweets of celebrities especially if they are fans.

4)he has an extremely large fan base which would listen to his opinions and therefore influence the opinions of his fans and causing him to have almost a million subscribers which means that his videos will impact an extremely large audience even though he started with basically nothing and had no help, however has a large impact still.
