Binary Oppositions and Ideologies

Provided Clip....
1) What examples of binary opposition can you suggest from watching this clip?

In the clip there are many examples of binary opposition as Russel Brand and Nigel Farage argue their points. It appears that Russel Brand is fighting for the working class and the immigrants and receives a lot of praise for the points which he makes as i believe they are more fair points and would please many more people. It surprised me that Nigel Farage received the applause which he did as I thought that this would be a largely unpopular opinion considering that such a large percentage of the population are migrants or has parents or grandparents who are migrants, however he still seemed to receive praise for his opinion. One of the binary oppositions to be noted is the Immigrants vs Working class, this is an important binary opposition as this is such a large number of the population and is a concern. It appears that many of the working class are against immigration as they believe it has become too congested, however majority of the migrants are simply here to work for money and contribute to taxes which assist in building schools, which is what Russel Brand mentions as he states the issue with another binary opposition, which is the Immigrants vs Corruption as it seems that the immigrants are being blamed for the lack of public resources and money available for government spending.

2) What ideologies are on display in this clip?

Some of the ideologies which are shown in the clip are that of the working classes in Britain and the struggles which they face daily, simply because they are not able to afford a life in the UK and are being criticised for a mistake they had made in the past or potentially them struggling to find a job.

1) What examples of binary opposition can you suggest from watching your clip?

There are many examples of binary examples in the clip. One of the main examples in the film are good vs evil. This is shown as Harry is represented as good and is perhaps showing what we all wish to see in ourselves and Voldemort shows the suppressed and slightly deluded side. We know from the text that Harry is given the opportunity to make many decisions which could have been controversial, however he seems to always do the right thing in the end although it may not always be the decision, which we think that we would make. Harry seems to be naive at the start and unaware of the dangers of the world and even unaware of the dangers of the magic and even that he has magic himself. He is unclear of this past, which somewhat restricts him from having the power and strength he may have potentially had if he knew where he came from.
2) What ideologies are on display in your clip?

The ideologies shown in the film are of good against evil and it displays how Harry must win the battle, although he has lost all his family and even loses Dumbledore, which he begins to love and care for and considers to be the closest thing to family. He loses many members which he loves such as Sirius black also, however has to push through and complete the battle regardless.
