Magazine research

1) Use your lesson notes on magazine genres and conventions to view a range of potential magazine covers. Create a shortlist of three potential magazines and embed an example front cover from each one.

2) Select your chosen magazine to create a new edition for and explain the thinking behind your choice.

 I have chosen to do one of the editions of the range rover line car magazines as i think that i will be able to recreate this well and have the resources to create this and think that it will be something different to what everyone else does.



3) Find three different front covers for your chosen magazine and embed them in your blog post. Analyse the fonts, colours and typical design. What is the language or writing style? How are the cover lines presented? You need to become an expert in the design and construction of this magazine and its branding.

There are a lot of bold colours used and the colour which is used for the masthead is continually used throughout the rest of the cover and there also tends to be a lot of large bold numbers used to bring attention to some sort of fact or piece of information about one of the famous people which are used on the covers to bring attention to is. There tends to be larger font towards the top of the cover and the writing tends to get smaller towards the bottom which is why there is small but effective phrases towards the top of the magazine, such as "Get back in shape!" which already makes the audience question if they are out of shape and for the most part majority of people will think that they are and already feel as if the magazine has made a personal connection with the reader and makes them interested in the product so that they can find out what they can do to get in shape, however there is obviously no short cut and we know that the people who they use on the covers are in fact working very hard to keep fit.
